What is a CNA?
Certified Nursing Assistants, also known as CNA's, play a vital role to the care of patients. CNAs assist patients with activities of daily living, provide nursing care and related services as is necessary to meet the personal needs and comfort of the residents. As a CNA, you also serve as a conduit between nurses, doctors and patients and record and communicate all issues to medical staff. At HIHTS, students are trained in basic nursing policy and procedures for use in hospitals, private offices or clinics, nursing homes, foster homes, long term care facilities and hospice care. The objective of the program is to prepare students with the necessary education for a safe, efficient and sensitive role as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Students are trained in basic nursing procedures, healthcare skills and practices with the emphasis on ethics, effective communication and resident's rights.
